Pre-School Curriculum

We recognise that when children join our Pre-School they have had many experiences at home which support their learning and development.  Our setting is very well resourced to ensure that children continue this journey whilst they are with us.

Our staff use the Early Years Foundation Stage to measure the development of each child. These assessments are captured on Tapestry, which all Pre-School parents have access to.

The children have access to a wide range of resources such as sand play, a creative area, a role play area with dressing-up clothes and puppets, construction area, small world play, musical instruments, puzzles and mathematical equipment, technology (remote controlled mice and computers) and a reading nook. We also have writing equipment across the setting to encourage the children to write and mark make in the various areas. Cooking sessions also take place regularly.

Our outside area has been extensively redeveloped and now features a large sand pit, a water area, a climbing frame as well as space for the children to dig and grow flowers and vegetables. We also have a messy kitchen outside and a wide range of balls, bats, hoops and bikes for the children to use.

The children in our Pre-School access our wonderful Forest School area on a weekly basis. They also have the opportunity to participate in Forest School sessions during the summer term. These sessions are run by a qualified Forest School Leader.

Ned's Hatchlings is a key part of our transition from Pre-School to Reception. Come and join us on a Tuesday from 2.30pm. Your child will have the opportunity to borrow a book from our library and enjoy stories and nursery rhymes in the Reception classroom. As well as being fun, nursery rhymes play an important part in children's development.

Never give up, Emcourage others, Do you best!
