Friends of HGFS&PS (PTA)
The Friends of Holmer Green First School and Pre-School, are a team of parent volunteers. We are a registered charity who organise events throughout the year for the children, parents and community to raise money for the school.
We work closely with the school and meet regularly to discuss and plan future events. Together with the Headteacher we agree what we would like to fund raise for to enhance the school and make it an enjoyable and safe learning environment for our children.
We usually raise an amazing £10,000 to £13,000 each academic year! With this money, the school has been able to resource outdoor learning areas, purchase new iPads and large, interactive screens for the classrooms. We have also paid for a defibrillator which is located at the front of the school. Our annual costs also include water coolers around the school, subsidised coaches for school trips, and an Easter egg and Christmas gift for each child.
We operate a class rep system. Each class has a Class Rep who will keep you informed of events. They arrange the class cake sales, help collate volunteers for events and arrange collections for end of year gifts for the class teachers.
Our events are also advertised on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/FriendsofHGFS/. This is a closed group for parents/carers of children at our school. It’s a great place to share information and for all important reminders! We also have a noticeboard near the school gates and occasionally we send information home via book-bag, plus our event dates are on the school calendar.
We always welcome new members and fresh ideas. If you would like to know more about us, our events or would like to attend our meetings, please email friendsofhgfs@gmail.com, everyone is welcome.
We know the meetings are not everyone’s cup of tea but and we simply cannot do it without you! There are so many other ways you can help. Everyone can do something. If we all give a little, we can achieve great things, we all get to enjoy the events and benefit from the funds raised.
Here are some ways you (or somebody you know) can help;

- Volunteer to help out/run a stall at an event (even for just an hour)
- Help to set up/tidy away at an event (gazebos, moving tables, setting out a stall)
- Sell cakes and ice lollies (once a term on a class rota basis, 15 mins on a Friday afternoon)
- Donations (toys for a tombola, raffle prizes etc)

- Sponsorship from a business
- Match funding via your employer
- Provide services and skills (ideally for free or at a discounted rate)
- Share a talent (perhaps you're/know an artist, a bingo caller, a Santa Claus!)
- Lend or donate useful items (a gazebo, music system, DVDs for Fun Club)
- Make something (a game, a sign, sweet bags, cakes etc)
- Design/Print posters & leaflets. Distribute posters & leaflets, spread the word to family, friends and neighbours.
- And of course, attend the events and enjoy yourselves!
